Democracy Undecided: Research and Publications

Democracy Undecided is an independent research and educational project developed by Michael Hryschenko to examine political equilibrium, democratic stability, societal needs, institutional capacity, and directional regime drift. The project develops the Dynamics of Political Equilibrium methodology through a sequence of interconnected analytical frameworks and working papers.

The project develops a structural, cross-country methodology for analyzing political equilibrium without reducing political systems to ideology, partisan labels, or simple regime classifications. Its core concepts examine the interaction among citizens, business, and government; the societal needs that underpin stable coordination; the mechanisms through which political pressure develops; and the ways states attempt to absorb, compensate for, or externalize unresolved internal pressures.

The publications below document the progressive development of this methodology. They introduce the Democracy Equilibrium Framework (DEF), the Societal Needs Hierarchy (SNH), and the Regime Stability and Drift Assessment (RSDA) as interconnected analytical tools for examining political stability and directional regime drift across different countries and institutional environments.

The book substantially expands and integrates these concepts into a unified analytical architecture that also incorporates the Country Transactional Model (CTM), Internalization, Externalization, and the broader methodology of political equilibrium analysis.

The complete volume is currently in final preparation for publication and will be available online shortly.

The purpose of both the project and the book is not to promote a particular political ideology or to rank countries, but to provide readers, researchers, institutions, and interested citizens with a structured way to examine how political systems function under pressure, where structural imbalances emerge, and under what conditions democratic equilibrium can be maintained or restored.
